# EOS acquires Metalpine to expand titanium powder supply for metal AM

[EOS](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/eos/) has acquired 100% of [Metalpine GmbH, a Graz-based specialist in metal powders for additive manufacturing](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/metalpine/), completing a transition from minority shareholder to full owner. The move gives EOS direct control over a titanium powder supply chain built around Metalpine's patented atomization process, which the company has developed for consistency and performance in serial production environments.

EOS had held a stake in Metalpine for several years before the acquisition. The deal brings Metalpine's manufacturing capabilities and R&D operations fully under the EOS umbrella while leaving the Austrian company's brand, organizational structure, and existing customer relationships intact.

## Titanium supply chain made in Austria

The acquisition is aimed squarely at customers in aerospace, medical, and high-performance industrial applications — segments where titanium is a primary material and where powder quality directly affects qualification timelines and production reliability. By owning the powder source, EOS said it can more tightly align materials, machine parameters, and process expertise, reducing the friction customers face when qualifying new applications or scaling production volumes.

"For many years, Metalpine has been a strong and innovative partner to EOS," said Joachim Zettler, Chief Technology Officer of EOS. "By integrating Metalpine into EOS, we are taking the next logical step in our collaboration, strengthening our metal materials supply and accelerating innovation, particularly in titanium, where we see significant and sustained market demand."

## Metal powders for all

Metalpine will continue to sell its powders to the broader market, including customers outside the EOS platform. Gerald Pöllmann, Chief Executive Officer of Metalpine, described the acquisition as a natural extension of the existing relationship. Dr. Martin Dopler, Chief Technology Officer and Head of R&D at Metalpine, said the company's patented process—which EOS cited as central to the deal's rationale—would continue to evolve within the larger organization.

"Our patented process stands for exceptional powder quality and consistency," Dopler said. "As part of EOS, we will further advance material innovation and support the growing requirements of industrial additive manufacturing, while continuing to provide our products to a broad market."
