Energica back on track with Ego Corsa MotoE production after fire

Despite a fire at the Jerez circuit in March that destroyed many MotoE motorcycles and equipment, things are back on track for the Energica Motor Company and the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, thanks in part to CRP Technology’s additive manufacturing know-how.

The fire broke out on March 14, and resulted in the destruction of several Ego Corsa electric motorbikes, which were slated to race in IRTA tests at the Jerez circuit in Spain. Understandably, the scheduled races were cancelled.

Now, however, preparations are coming along for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup. CRP Technology and CRP Meccanica have offered their support to Energica Motor Company (the official manufacturer for the MotoE races) and all Ego Corsa bikes are expected to be ready by the end of May.

Franco Cevolini, CEO of CRP Technology and CRP Meccanica, commented on the successful effort, saying: “On the day after the fire in Jerez, it was clearly known that a special effort had to be made: now, as Energica’s technological partners, I can very proudly say that we did it!”

Energica Ego Corsa back on track

“Since the early hours following the unfortunate event, CRP Meccanica and CRP Technology [sided] with Energica to support them in facing their challenge,” he added. “The experience gained in 50 years of activity serving the most advanced sectors, has allowed us to address the situation in the most proper and efficient way.”

CRP’s expertise in additive manufacturing and CNC machining have enabled the electric motorbike manufacturer to rebuild all the Ego Corsa bikes in record time. The Ego Corsa racing motorbikes are on track to be delivered to riders for technical testing on June 17th at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.

“This is a true miracle,” said Livia Cevolini, Energica CEO. “And only CRP Technology and CRP Meccanica could help us do it. Rebuilding more than 18 race motorbikes from scratch in two months is a unique and extraordinary event, in the world and in history.

“Due to this rebuilding project, CRP Technology and CRP Meccanica are showing that they are not mere suppliers who take orders and make parts based on the manufacturing technology they offer, but that they are ‘all-rounded consulting and manufacturing companies,’ which take customers by the hand and advise them in choosing the best technology to carry out their projects.”

CRP Group has played an important role in the development of the Ego Corsa electric motorbike, leveraging its Windform materials and 3D printing savvy to produce parts of the battery pack, motor terminal cover, transponder holder and more or the vehicle.
