Elli Design launches 3D printed ‘Double’ armchair at BDNY 2023
Alessio Elli's circular business model relies on Caracol's Heron AM to bring his designs to life

‘Made in Italy’ has, for ages, been considered synonymous with quality, attention to detail, and durability. These are still the cornerstones of Elli Design’s philosophy, even though the company crafts its pieces with techniques that are far from traditional – making use of 3D printing technology from Caracol to create long-lasting pieces of furniture, with minimal harm to our planet.
Elli Design is betting on the concept of ‘Made & Remade’, and a zero waste logic. By using 3D printing and polymeric materials from recycled sources, Alessio Elli, the founder of the company, gives life to pieces of furniture featuring avant-garde shapes and innovative designs. At the end of their life cycle, these items can be recycled again – transforming them into a recovered material to produce something new.
Following this approach, Elli Design has introduced the armchair Double, which will first be exhibited at Boutique Design New York (BDNY), from 12-13 November 2023.
“Double was born this way, with paper and pencil, a few sketches moved by the equation: beauty-form- function,” said Alessio Elli. “We are extremely proud of the result, but most of all of this year’s achievements, and it is a pleasure for us to represent Italian craftsmanship in one of the most important fairs of the hotel industry.”
The smooth, flowing lines and the elegant curves of Double express Elli’s design language at its finest – a dialogue between innovation and craftsmanship that presents the additive manufacturing approach as the work of human research, more than mathematical analysis.
Double is produced using Caracol’s Heron AM large format additive manufacturing technology and is designed for public spaces, lobbies, and hotel rooms. This elegant and modern product fully embodies the philosophy and the creative process of Elli, who ‘invites the experiencing audience to go beyond, to see the soul behind the project, and to reflect on new solutions for a better earth.’
