Elkem Silicones rebrands as Bluestar Silicones following acquisition
The silicone manufacturer revives a name it held for a decade as it moves into a new phase of ownership
Elkem Silicones has rebranded as Bluestar Silicones, reverting to the name the business carried from 2007 to 2017 following the completion of Bluestar’s acquisition of the majority of Elkem’s silicones division on 30 April 2026. The rebrand includes a new visual identity and the tagline “Living the difference”.
Sandy Chen, Head of Bluestar Silicones, explained the move as both a return to familiar ground and a signal of intent. “Returning to the Bluestar Silicones name reconnects us with an established brand and a recognized heritage while expressing our renewed ambition for the future,l Chen said.
“This is both a continuity move and a step forward for our company, our people, our customers and our partners.”
Operations unchanged
The company stated that manufacturing sites, production processes, raw materials, product names, and commercial trademarks would remain unchanged through the transition.
Chen added that the company intended to build on its existing industrial, scientific, and commercial base to grow as a global player, while maintaining the customer proximity and application expertise the business had developed over more than 80 years in silicone chemistry.
The rebrand will be phased across touchpoints and geographies over the coming months. Bluestar Silicones operates 11 manufacturing sites across four continents and employs around 3,500 people worldwide, including approximately 400 research and development scientists. Its serviced sectors include mobility, electronics, energy, aerospace, healthcare, and construction.
