Elegoo debuts Centauri Carbon 2 Combo, an enclosed multicolor 3D printer below $500

As we anticipated last week, Elegoo is officially introducing the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo, a closed-frame fused-filament 3D printer designed for households and first-time users who want multicolor printing without manual tool changes. The successor to the first Centauri Carbon pairs a four-color feed system with automated calibration and print monitoring, aiming to reduce setup and day-to-day adjustment for family use and shared spaces.

Multicolor workflow and home-friendly operation

Centauri Carbon 2 Combo supports four-color printing through Elegoo’s CANVAS system, which handles automatic color switching, instant filament loading, backup spool selection, and tangle prevention. RFID tag detection identifies material types and recommends slicer parameters, targeting beginners who may not tune profiles manually. The machine integrates 31 sensors for auto-leveling and process checks, enabling a one-click start sequence intended to minimize common failure modes.

The enclosure is specified at 45 dB during operation, with a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen and 11-language UI for multi-user households. Advanced temperature control and an auto-managed air grille are designed to stabilize prints in an enclosed chamber for materials ranging from PLA to PETG, ABS/ASA, and fiber-reinforced blends. A hardened steel nozzle rated to 350 °C and a multi-fan cooling path target higher-temperature polymers and abrasive filaments.

The printer lists a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume and a maximum stated speed of 500 mm/s. The heated bed is rated to 110 °C, and the unit’s net weight is 19.35 kg. Supported file formats include STL, OBJ, 3MF, and STEP. Elegoo is tying the device into its software stack for model discovery, slicing, and remote management via Nexprint (ELEGOO’s online model marketplace), ElegooSlicer, and the Matrix mobile app. The pitch centers on a streamlined, remote-friendly workflow that can be managed from elsewhere in the home.

Price is obviously one of the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo’s strengths. The machine carries a U.S. price of $449 and is listed for direct purchase in the United States, Canada, the European Union, Australia, and Japan through Elegoo’s website.
