# Egypt bets on 3D printing to power industrial independence

[According to the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI)](https://www.aoi.org.eg/en/news/The%20Chairman%20of%20the%20%20AOI%20,%20the%20Minister%20of%20the%20Public%20Business%20Sector,%20and%20the%20Deputy%20Minister%20of%20Housing,%20emphasized%20the%20importance%20of%20%203D%20printing%20and%20Digital%20machines), Egypt is accelerating its adoption of 3D printing to produce spare parts across key industries. In partnership with [IMMESNA, a digital manufacturing company](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/immensa-lab/), the AOI hosted a workshop at its Digital Manufacturing Center to spotlight the transformative role of 3D printing and digital machinery.

Major General Eng. Mokhtar Abdellatif, Chairman of the AOI, emphasized Egypt’s commitment to leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies in line with its Vision 2030 goals. He noted that the AOI is already conducting a full needs assessment and will begin [manufacturing spare parts using 3D printing](https://www.voxelmatters.com/obb-signs-with-3d-spark-to-scale-digital-spare-parts-management/) immediately. This includes parts for the [automotive](https://www.voxelmatters.com/voxelmatters-mobility-am-focus-2025-ebook/), aerospace, medical, and heavy machinery sectors.

AOI’s Digital Manufacturing Center, housed within the Engine Factory, is equipped with cutting-edge systems aligned with Fourth Industrial Revolution standards. It has successfully localized production of critical components - such as industrial pumps—and is capable of meeting both domestic and international quality standards.

Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of the Public Business Sector, underscored the importance of embracing 3D printing to modernize Egypt’s industrial base, reduce imports, and create jobs. He called for strategic partnerships between public and private sectors to drive digital transformation and local production capacity.

Dr. Engineer Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, also praised the initiative, especially for its potential to support infrastructure systems like water purification and wastewater treatment. He stressed the importance of boosting the local component in Egyptian manufacturing and exploring export opportunities to Africa and the Gulf.

The workshop represents a major step toward Egypt’s goal of industrial self-sufficiency. As Eng. Abdellatif noted, “manufacturing spare parts using 3D printing and digital machines is an innovative process” that enables rapid, on-demand, and cost-effective production of high-precision parts, including those that are otherwise obsolete.

This marks a pivotal moment in Egypt’s journey to localize advanced technologies and establish itself as a regional manufacturing leader.
