DyeMansion adds ASM VX1 vapor smoothing to reseller network
The post-processing equipment offers entry-level, eco-friendly vapor smoothing
3D printing post-processing companies ASM and DyeMansion have formed a strategic alliance to bring the former’s vapor smoothing technology to a wider customer base. Through the partnership, DyeMansion will be gradually adding ASM’s VX1 smoothing system to the portfolio of its international reseller network.
Munich-based startup ASM specializes in vapor smoothing post-processing for 3D printed parts and its flagship product, the VX1, enables even entry-level users to give their prints a professional and smooth finish. The compact and user-friendly solution is already in use at 3D printing services, including Germany’s FORMRISE, which specializes in SLS production. “The VX1 is ideal for starting out as a 3D printing service provider with this technology and enables us to further increase our service portfolio in terms of quantity and quality with a low initial investment,” explained Peter Spitzwieser, Managing Director of FORMRISE GmbH.
Through the partnership agreement with DyeMansion, which itself offers a range of polymer AM post-processing solutions, ASM’s technology will be able to reach a broader customer base through DyeMansion’s well established reseller network. “We have the strongest partner network for post-processing workflows and can therefore support technology providers like ASM in bringing innovations to market quickly and comprehensively while enabling customers to easily access new technology,” said Felix Ewald, CEO and Co-Founder of DyeMansion. “ASM’s VX1 smoothing system is the perfect addition to our portfolio and offers our customers an easy-to-use and high-quality smoothing solution.”
DyeMansion itself has vapor polishing solutions—the Powerfuse S series with either manual or automatic loading—as well as cleaning and coloring solutions for 3D printed polymer parts. To date, the company has almost 50 installed machines from its Powerfuse S line. With ASM’s VX1 smoothing solution added to DyeMansion’s reseller portfolio, the partners are aiming to set a new standard for vapor smoothing, while giving customers the opportunity to access DyeMansion’s extensive post-processing expertise. According to DyeMansion, the intention is to integrate ASM’s technology into existing post-processing workflows, particularly for entry-level 3D printing.
Another advantage of the post-processing system is that it does not use solvents that contain PFAS, otherwise known as “forever chemicals”. “The EU, the US and other industrialized nations are taking steps to further regulate the use of PFAS chemicals due to their potential to harm the environment and human health…Unfortunately, vapor smoothing is still often based on the use of PFAS solvents. Considering the potential risks to people and the environment in the area of EHS, we believe this is not sustainable. This has to change,” said Felix Ewald.
The VX1 is currently available for order via two of DyeMansion’s reselling partners: Bechtle Additive Manufacturing Deutschland GmbH und SGSolution AG. More European resellers will be added soon and a U.S. launch is expected in 2025.
