Divergent achieves Nadcap accreditation for additive manufacturing
First successful audit conducted under the newly established AC7131 standard
Divergent has been awarded the Nadcap 12-month Accreditation for Additive Manufacturing (AM), further solidifying its position as a leader in the evolving field of AM technologies.
Divergent’s accreditation represents the first successful audit conducted under the newly established AC7131 standard, which transitions Additive Manufacturing from the Welding Task Group (AC7110) to its own independent AM Task Group. This advancement highlights the increasing importance of AM in critical industries, including aerospace and defense.
The Nadcap audit at Divergent was particularly rigorous, involving the presence of two on-site external observers in addition to the standard Nadcap auditor. This additional scrutiny emphasizes the industry’s recognition of Divergent’s advanced AM processes and its growing influence in the sector as well as its dedication to advancing the capabilities of additive manufacturing.
At the core of Divergent’s success is the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS), a groundbreaking AM production platform with unparalleled capabilities. DAPS integrates advanced technologies to deliver a transformative approach to manufacturing.
Key features of DAPS include AI-driven optimization to automatically generate fully optimized structures and manufacturing instructions for a wide range of vehicles across air, land, sea, and space domains.
Using proprietary machines and patented alloys, Divergent can 3D print optimized structures at industrial rates and competitive costs, tailored to specific applications. The system features the Divergent V-Cell, a universal assembler that automates the integration of component structures into complete vehicles.
DAPS has achieved Technology Readiness Level 9 (TRL9), signifying full commercialization. Its applications span diverse industries, with partnerships including six major automakers such as McLaren and Mercedes. Over the past 12–18 months, DAPS has also expanded into the U.S. aerospace and defense sectors, supporting programs focused on unmanned air, land, sea, and space vehicles, as well as sustainment of existing systems.
Divergent is actively engaged with major U.S. defense primes and directly with the Department of Defense.
