# D3-AM delivers LAB II ceramic 3D printer in Germany

[D3-AM GmbH](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/d3-am/) has delivered a LAB II ceramic 3D printing system to a customer in Germany, positioning the company for closer cooperation in the region. The company characterizes the installation as the start of a longer-term partnership around additive manufacturing of technical ceramics. Pricing, the customer name, and expected production volumes were not disclosed.

According to the company, the system can process particle sizes up to 62 µm and produce fully dense parts after sintering.

The LAB II can create objects that are 400 × 480 × 160 mm in size and can use materials like alumina and dark ceramics, including sintered silicon carbide (SSiC) and reaction-bonded silicon carbide (RBSiC), which are often hard to work with using light-based methods

[At last year’s Formnext trade show in Frankfurt, the company presented a software-based quality control tool for the LAB II.](https://www.voxelmatters.com/d3-am-expands-capabilities-ceramic-am-micro-particle-jetting/) The machine-learning system analyzes each printed layer in real time to classify defects such as air inclusions and cracks and provides corrective guidance to operators. D3-AM positions the tool as a way to shorten materials development cycles and move toward a closed feedback loop between digital inspection and mechanical validation.

“MPJ has many advantages and includes the entire spectrum of dark ceramics, since it does not rely on light absorption for layer generation,” said Stefan Waldner, Chief Product Officer at D3-AM. “The LAB II is a versatile additive manufacturing system. We encourage our customers and research partners to work with known and application-relevant materials rather than relying solely on like-as substitutes. Only in this way can true innovation emerge and the technology gain a foothold in emerging markets.”

For 2026, D3-AM highlights new high-performance materials for MPJ, development of industrial applications, and appearances at ceramitec and Formnext. The company also points to the Durst Group’s 90th anniversary as a backdrop for further software and materials updates. On the materials roadmap, D3-AM cites additional qualified powders—including silicon-infiltrated silicon carbide (SiSiC) and higher-purity alumina (99.8%)—while continuing to court opportunities in aerospace, energy, optics, research, and semiconductors.
