# Continuum Powders opens sustainable manufacturing site in Houston, TX

[Continuum Powders](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/molyworks/), which earlier this week announced that its [reclaimed metal powders were qualified for use on Renishaw's RenAM platform](https://www.voxelmatters.com/renishaw-and-continuum-qualify-reclaimed-metal-powders-for-renam-500/), has now revealed details about its new global headquarters in Houston, Texas. The facility, which will officially be inaugurated on December 5 with a special event, is set to become North America's largest sustainable metal powder production site.

In this, our Sustainability AM Focus month, Continuum Powders is demonstrating its commitment to the mission of making metal AM greener. For starters, the company's Greyhound M2P is a gas atomization technology capable of converting metal waste into spherical powders suitable for metal AM, metal injection molding and laser cladding. On top of that, the company's new facility is expected to have the "lowest carbon footprint of any metal powder production facility globally", thanks to features like low-emission gas systems and partnerships with other net-zero carbon energy groups. Continuum Powders is also seeking to obtain additional green certifications and ultimately to optimize energy efficiency at the site by relying on renewable energy and advanced recycling programs.

Our technology represents a distinct advantage in the market, offering sustainable solutions that align with the needs of forward-thinking industries."

While the production output of the new facility has yet to be disclosed, the site will leverage the proprietary one-step melt-to-powder atomization process to create a range of AM powders from metal waste, including nickel-based alloys, stainless steel alloys, titanium alloys and more. The company also works with customers in industries like aerospace, energy, defense, and automotive to develop custom alloys. Notably, Continuum Powders says that the increased production capacity will enable it to deliver materials to customers faster and at reduced shipping costs.

A number of metal AM technology companies have qualified Continuum Powders products for their platforms, including Renishaw, as well as Velo3D and Desktop Metal. With contract manufacturer Knust-Godwin, Continuum Powders is demonstrating how its unique metal recycling and atomization process can [actually enable a circular economy](https://www.voxelmatters.com/desktop-metal-qualifies-continuums-mar-m247-recycled-superalloy/). Specifically, a Knust-Godwin client will supply nickel alloy parts at the end of their life, which will be turned into fresh 3D printing powder by Continuum Powders, and then turned into new 3D printed products for the client by Knust-Godwin.
