AMG’s first full-electric hypercar features 3D printed seat pads
The CONCEPT AMG GT XX marks the seamless integration of futuristic technologies
Developed across Mercedes-Benz’s top research centers and refined in Affalterbach, the CONCEPT AMG GT XX electric four-door coupe represents the pinnacle of innovation in performance, efficiency, and design. It’s powered by three compact axial flux motors delivering more than 1,341 hp and paired with a next-generation high-voltage battery. The result is extraordinary: rapid acceleration, consistent high-performance output, and the ability to recharge 400 km of range in just five minutes. The car’s interior features groundbreaking materials and 3D printed seat cushions for personalized comfort and performance.
Inside, the AMG GT XX boasts a stripped-down, race-car aesthetic, complemented by cutting-edge luxury. One of the interior’s standout innovations is the introduction of 3D printed seat pads. These ultra-light cushions are customized using ergonomic body scans, providing unmatched comfort and adaptability. Inspired by motorsports, they’re mounted on carbon fiber racing shells and clad in a high-performance LABFIBER Biotech Leather Alternative made from recycled AMG GT3 tires. This material is both more durable and environmentally responsible than traditional leather, offering the tactile richness of suede with better thermal resistance and tensile strength.

The cockpit continues the theme of exposed structure and intelligent design, with no cladding on the dash, visible crossmembers, and a center console embossed with the AMG crest. High-resolution screens provide all vehicle data, while the MBUX interface is visually dynamic, showcasing battery animations and system status through Mercedes-Benz’s new chip-to-cloud software architecture.
The axial flux motors, derived from F1 expertise and developed with YASA, are significantly more compact and lightweight than traditional motors, yet pack triple the power density. These motors are carefully packaged into High Performance Electric Drive Units at the front and rear, supporting intelligent torque distribution and extreme driving dynamics.
The AMG GT XX battery, built from the ground up, uses tall, slim cylindrical cells wrapped in lightweight aluminum housings for superior thermal and electrical conductivity. With more than 3,000 cells individually cooled by non-conductive oil, the battery maintains optimal performance during high loads and charging. This system enables unprecedented energy recovery and repeated high-output driving without degradation.
Externally, the AMG GT XX flaunts its capabilities with aggressive lines, a wide stance, and a color-shifting “sunset beam orange” paint job. Luminescent panels along the flanks not only enhance the visual impact at night but also act as communicative displays during the charging process. Even the headlights carry dual functionality, integrating external speakers that emit AMG sound profiles and alerts.
From aerodynamics to cooling, every detail is honed for performance. The underbody creates a Venturi effect for better downforce without the need for a large rear wing. The patented Aero Wheels adjust blade positioning for cooling or drag reduction, each powered by its own energy-generating actuator using Bluetooth communication.
Built on a rigid but lightweight AMG.EA electric architecture, the body combines aluminum, composites, and steel for maximum safety. The battery forms a structural part of the chassis, protected in a reinforced housing that includes all high-voltage safety components and Mercedes’ strict crash standards.
