ceramitec has outlined three development areas for its 2028 edition, scheduled for April 25 to 27, 2028, at the exhibition center in Munich, and the organizers have reported strong interest in specific applications and in discussions with downstream industries at the 2026 event.

“Ceramics are at the heart of many technologies that will shape our lives and our industry in the coming years,” said Maritta Lepp, Exhibition Director of ceramitec. “We would like to highlight these connections even more clearly at the next trade fair.

“At the same time, our exhibitors are grappling with very specific questions: How can they maintain reliable production despite scarce resources and a shortage of skilled workers? How can processes be managed more intelligently and raw materials kept in the cycle? ceramitec is the place where the industry, together with users, develops viable solutions.”

The fair plans to extend to fields in which technical ceramics are expected to play a key role: semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, medical technology, battery, storage and hydrogen technologies, and the defense and security sector.

A dedicated exhibition concept for ceramic component manufacturers is also under development in Hall A6. As part of the Messe München network, ceramitec also plans to coordinate with other technology trade fairs in mobility, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing and energy storage.

The forum is set to cover real-world use cases, with downstream industry representatives presenting requirements and solutions under a “users for users” principle.

ceramitec also described circularity as a key issue for the ceramics industry’s future rather than only a sustainability topic, citing raw material availability and supply security. The focus is on the industrial reuse of ceramic residues, production waste and secondary raw materials.

A joint pavilion, “From Recycling to Raw Materials,” will cover the process chain from processing and sorting to the supply of high-quality secondary raw materials.
