# CECIMO formally establishes AM-Europe as dedicated AM platform

[CECIMO, the European Association of Manufacturing Technologies](https://www.voxelmatters.com/cecimo-publishes-manifesto-for-a-competitive-european-additive-manufacturing-sector/), has formally established AM-Europe as a dedicated European platform for the additive manufacturing sector, marking a significant structural step in the organization's decades-long work supporting AM's development across the continent.

[The platform represents the evolution of CECIMO's existing AM activities](https://www.voxelmatters.com/cecimo-led-am-europe-initiative-looks-to-strengthen-european-additive-manufacturing/) into a broader, more visible European initiative, operating within CECIMO's governance framework while carrying its own distinct identity. AM-Europe is now open to new members, with national associations, research organizations, and competence centers invited to participate.

## Founding members and mandate

AM-Europe was established by six founding members drawn from across the European AM ecosystem: UCIMU, AITA3D, ADDIMAT, FMTI, SWISSMEM, and AMUK. The platform will serve as a central body for coordination, representation, and strategic dialogue, working to ensure the European AM sector's priorities are reflected in EU policy discussions.

[Future activities will span policy advocacy, industrial collaboration, standardization, market intelligence, skills development, and engagement](https://www.voxelmatters.com/cecimo-publishes-new-report-on-european-am-business-trends/) with European institutions. The platform also stated its intention to advance the vision set out in the Manifesto for a Competitive European Additive Manufacturing Sector, which positions Europe as a global hub for AM and calls for an ecosystem capable of deploying advanced technologies across industrial sectors.

## García sets out the ambition

Virgilio García, Chairman of AM-Europe, said: “From an industrial perspective, additive manufacturing has become a strategic technology for Europe's competitiveness, resilience and capacity to innovate. Through AM-Europe, we want to create a stronger and more coordinated European platform that brings together the AM ecosystem, supports closer dialogue with policymakers and helps ensure that companies have the right framework conditions to develop, invest and scale.

“Europe has the expertise and industrial base to lead in additive manufacturing. Let's work together within AM-Europe to make this happen.”

The launch came as AM continues to gain traction among European policymakers as an enabling technology for industrial competitiveness, with the release citing defense, aerospace, energy, and healthcare as sectors where the technology's role was considered particularly significant.
