3D printing company Carbon is welcoming Dara Treseder onto its team as its first Chief Marketing Officer. Treseder joins Carbon after having served as Chief Marketing Officer at GE Ventures and GE Business Innovations. She will bring her expertise in marketing to Carbon to help it realize its goals of transforming the manufacturing industry with additive.

Carbon has been making some updates to its leadership recently. Last month, the company announced the appointment of Ellen J. Kullman, the former Chair and CEO of DuPont as its Lead Independent Director of the Board. At the same time, the Silicon Valley company appointed Deborah M. Messemer to its Board of Directors and hired Elisa de Martel as its Chief Financial Officer.

The addition of Treseder to Carbon’s leadership team comes at a point where the company is seeking to expand significantly. In fact, the expansion is already underway as Carbon has partnered with such influential companies as Adidas, Johnson & Johnson and BMW.

“The entire team joins me in welcoming Dara to Carbon,” said Dr. Joseph DeSimone, Carbon’s CEO and Co-founder. “Dara joins us at a critical time in Carbon’s journey, as we push the boundaries of technology and execute our strategy to create a new standard for digital manufacturing across the globe. Her passion and extensive experience in marketing and technology will play an instrumental role in Carbon achieving its ambitious goals.”

As the company’s new CMO, Treseder will reportedly introduce new ways to showcase and highlight’s Carbon’s technology and journey in the AM industry, including high-impact marketing strategies and campaigns. As mentioned, Treseder served as CMO for GE Ventures and GE Business Innovations. Before this, she also led marketing efforts at Apple and Goldman Sachs.

“I am deeply inspired by Carbon’s vision and values and excited to be part of a trailblazing team

that is redefining digital manufacturing and creating the industry’s future,” said Treseder. “As chief marketing officer, I am looking forward to advancing Carbon’s brand, strengthening our customer connections, and rapidly scaling our global growth.”

Adding to her professional accolades, Tresemer was named in Forbes’ CMO Next list as one of 50 executives redefining the role of CMO. She was also named as one of the Women to Watch in 2018 by AdAge and was included in Inc.’s 30 Inspirational Women to Watch in Tech list.

Though the additive manufacturing industry is still largely male dominated—like the technology industry on the whole—it is heartening to see innovative companies such as Carbon take important steps to establish more equality in the sector. Personally, I am eager to see the company’s growth and upcoming ventures led by Treseder and the rest of the company’s team.
