Bulleit brings 3D printed cocktails to Tribeca Film Festival

American whiskey maker Bulleit is raising the bar for fancy cocktails at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival. At the event, Bulleit will present its latest Frontier Works project, the “Bulleit 3D Printed Frontier Lounge,” where it will serve 3D printed cocktails to a bunch of lucky (and of-age) invitees.

The unique bar experience will bring together a selection of New York’s top bartenders to serve what Bulleit calls “some of the world’s first 3D printed cocktails.” If you’ve been wary of the words “3D printed” being tacked on to coffee and other edibles which simply have a 2D graphic printed onto them, don’t worry: the 3D printed cocktails to be served by Bulleit are a cut above.

As the images below show, a series of droplets have been deposited into a shot of liquor in a 3D spiral configuration. The result is a cutting-edge drink that looks straight out of a sci-fi film. In addition to the cocktails, the entire bar’s structure is 3D printed. The transportable installation, which is inspired by the whiskey brand’s label, will be set up at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as at many other events across the United States.

The Bulleit 3D Printed Frontier Lounge was created in partnership with architecture and design firm FAR frohn&rojas, 3D printing specialist Machine Histories, bartender Melissa Markert and Print a Drink roboticist Benjamin Greimel.

“Cultivating cultural partnerships and making friends on the frontier is at the heart of Bulleit and our Frontier Works projects,” said Sophie Kelly, Sr. Vice President of Whiskey at Diageo North America. “When you think about Tribeca Film Festival, it’s a celebration that goes beyond filmmakers. It’s a massive cultural program and we’re thrilled to bring the Bulleit 3D Printed Frontier to this iconic moment in this iconic city, giving people an amazing social and cultural experience, which is at the core of what we do.”

The immersive bar experience will consist of a series of private events at Studio 525. Guests will be served 3D printed cocktails by Markert and a team of notable New York bartenders. Local DJs will provide musical entertainment, while high-tech lighting projections will showcase content from the Tribeca Film Fest entries.

The Tribeca Film Festival premieres on April 24, 2019.
