On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, BluRhapsody, a 3D printed past brand from Barilla, is launching an exclusive capsule collection made up of 3D finger food pasta shapes: LOVE ME TENDER and CUPID. The two creations are described as”ideal for a candlelit aperitif, a seductive mini-dessert or for an original and romantic gift.”

LOVE ME TENDER is a red 3D pasta heart accompanied by the word “love”. It is made up of two parts: a heart, to be filled, and the word love, all combined with a pleasant consistency on the palate. CUPID is an elegant semolina heart, that can be filled and transformed into an irresistible finger food aperitif. Chefs and lovers can leave their unique mark with this heart-shaped pasta shape, as an original way to say I love you in a way that is a delight, not only for the eyes. It can be filled as desired and decorated with your favorite ingredients.

Available to buy since 2022, Blue Rhapsody offers several different 3D printed pasta designs at prices that range from about $25 to about $35 for 12 large pieces of custom pasta, enough to make a few dishes. This price point is within range for those restaurants and chefs who create unique dishes, offering food as an experience for the senses.

The project began in 2015, with the ‘SMART PASTA – 3D Shapes with a Purpose’ contest orchestrated by Barilla in 2015. The winners of this contest produced some really interestingly-designed pasta forms – for example, the ‘Water Lilly’, designed by Cornelius Comanns. Now, after several years of research & development, several designs of 3D printed pasta are commercially available on the BluRhapsody website’s shop and are already being used by chefs – especially in Italy – to create high-end custom dishes.
