# Blue Origin is looking for a Director of AM

The role signals the company’s continued commitment to scaling advanced manufacturing capabilities as it develops reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems.

Cross-functional collaboration is a core component of the position. Leadership responsibilities include building, mentoring, and developing a high-performing additive manufacturing team capable of supporting both development and production programs.

Blue Origin is seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a manufacturing-related field, or equivalent experience, with a master’s degree or MBA considered a plus. Applicants should have more than 10 years of leadership experience in manufacturing environments such as launch vehicles, spacecraft, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, power generation, or electronics. A strong understanding of 3D printing across production, research, and prototyping environments is required, along with at least seven years of experience managing large budgets or profit-and-loss responsibilities. Additional requirements include experience leading root cause analysis efforts, familiarity with fabrication and integration processes, systems engineering methodologies, testing and quality systems, and configuration management. Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Black Belt level) is listed as a plus, as is operational leadership experience in aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation, or heavy industrial equipment.

The listed compensation range is between $182,450 and $255,429 per year, varying by location.
