# BIO INX partners with Yamato Scientific to expand 3D bioprinting footprint in Japan

[BIO INX, a Belgium-based developer of bio-inks for 3D bioprinting](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/bio-inx/), has signed a distribution agreement with Yamato Scientific Co., Ltd. to supply its products in Japan. The partnership marks BIO INX’s first formal entry into the Japanese market and is part of a broader international expansion effort.

The agreement follows a recent Flemish trade mission to Japan, led by Flanders Minister-President Matthias Diependaele and organized by Flanders Investment and Trade, during which BIO INX engaged with potential partners. Yamato Scientific was identified during the mission as a strategic match for regional distribution.

"To increase our presence in Japan, we participated in the recent trade mission where we actively sought local partners to support our growth," said Jasper Van Hoorick, Chief Executive Officer of BIO INX. "We were introduced to Yamato Scientific, a company with a strong focus on scientific innovation and a growing interest in 3D bioprinting."

Founded in 1889, Tokyo-based Yamato Scientific supplies laboratory and scientific equipment across research institutions and industrial labs. Its entry into bioprinting aligns with a wider push to support emerging life science technologies.

"Offering the innovative bio-inks from BIO INX provides a unique opportunity," said Takashi Sawashima of Yamato Scientific. "BIO INX’s cross-technological materials are compatible with multiple printing methods—from extrusion-based to high-resolution, light-based technologies. Adding these products to our portfolio is of great importance as we expand into the bioprinting field."

The companies state that the distribution partnership will give Japanese researchers and developers direct access to BIO INX’s materials, supporting applications in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and broader life sciences. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
