# BigRep to launch ONE.5X and pellet extrusion partnership with Massive Dimension

[BigRep](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/bigrep-gmbh/) is bringing two product developments to RAPID + TCT 2026 in Boston: the BigRep ONE.5X, an updated version of its 1-cubic-meter large-format 3D printer, and a co-development partnership with Vermont-based Massive Dimension to integrate pellet-based extrusion into the BigRep ONE platform.

## ONE.5X adds automation

The ONE.5X builds on the existing ONE.5, retaining its dual PEX2 extruders, material compatibility range, and SWITCHPLATE print bed options while adding a new set of automation features. XYZ auto-calibration handles machine setup without manual input; adaptive bed mesh leveling maps the print surface before each job; and a relay mode automatically switches to the second extruder when the first runs out of material, allowing long jobs to complete without operator intervention. An auto-sequential printing feature detects available bed space and automatically queues the next job.

On the performance side, the ONE.5X reaches a maximum print speed of 250 mm/s. A pressure advance algorithm regulates material flow during acceleration and deceleration to reduce corner bulging, and vibration compensation reduces frame resonance at higher speeds—together cutting overall print time by up to 10%, according to BigRep.

The machine also introduces a new Human Machine Interface (HMI)—the same interface first used on the BigRep VIIO 250—and adds over-the-air (OTA) software update capability to the ONE platform for the first time.

"The ONE.5X represents everything we've learned from over a decade of industrial large-format 3D printing, as well as global customer feedback," said Jeff Olson, President of BigRep America, Inc. "All of that is distilled into a machine that delivers consistent results, regardless of an end-user's experience level."

## Massive Dimension brings pellets to BigRep

Through its partnership with Massive Dimension, BigRep is integrating Massive Dimension's new MDX pellet extruder into the ONE platform. The MDX is 25% lighter than its predecessor and built with 40% fewer parts, reducing mechanical complexity and simplifying on-floor maintenance. Pellet-based extrusion supports higher throughput, lower material costs relative to filament, and a broader range of processable materials—characteristics that make it well-suited to large-format applications such as furniture, molds, and functional prototypes.

"The MDX is not just an iteration," said Tyler McNaney, Founder and CTO of Massive Dimension. "It's a reset. We removed complexity and reduced weight to create a more capable and more adaptable extrusion system, built for where the market is going."

The MDX extruder is on display at RAPID + TCT alongside the ONE.5X. BigRep and Massive Dimension are targeting commercial availability for the combined system by the end of 2026, with pricing not yet disclosed.
