BigRep presents concept for a 3D printed airless bike tire | video

German large-format 3D printer maker BigRep continues to push the limits and boundaries of its 3D printing technology, introducing new ideas and concepts that can truly disrupt traditional manufacturing practices. The latest is a concept that appears to be quite feasible: a 3D printed airless bike tire that can actually be used on a normal bicycle.

The airless tire was 3D printed using BigRep’s new PRO FLEX material – a TPU-based filament. The video above shows how the bike was then taken for a spin in Berlin and performed quite well.

BigRep is a future-focused large-scale industrial 3D printer manufacturer based in Berlin with offices in New York and Singapore. The company produces two world-famous German-engineered workhorse printers: the BigRep ONE, with its 1m³ print volume, and the more compact BigRep STUDIO, which can deliver large complex prints in any workspace.
