Beta testing to begin for Farsoon’s new FS301M metal 3D printer

Farsoon Technologies, a China-based 3D printer manufacturer, is getting closer to the commercialization of its new FS301M metal 3D printing system. The machine, which was designed based on feedback from industrial end-users, is now ready to enter its beta testing stage.

At the core of Farsoon’s upcoming metal additive manufacturing system are the pain points of its customers, which the company says it took into consideration when building the new machine. In feedback from customers about its own and existing AM technologies, Farsoon noted areas of improvement, including productivity, safety, stability and user-friendliness.

Farsoon FS301M

This led the company to collaborate with partners across a number of industries, such as aerospace and tooling, to build a metal AM system that meets the needs of the end-user. The result, according to the company, is the FS301M, a system which reportedly integrates improved speed, powder management, quality, serviceability and user operations.

At this stage, the company has revealed a few details about the metal AM system, including a build volume of up to 305 x 305 x 400 mm, the option to print with single or dual lasers, and an integrated powder feed connector, which makes it easier and safer to add powder to the print bed. The FS301M is also equipped with a long-lasting filtration system and a compact layout that is conducive to easy serviceability.

The upcoming 3D printer will soon be presented—in its Beta version—at Formnext 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany. The fully open FS301M Beta 3D printer will also be tested by Farsoon partners later this year. Interested parties can also apply to the company’s early adopter program for early access to the metal AM system.

The company writes: “Farsoon’s openness to truly co-innovate by working with customers has led to the development of a truly user-friendly system. Many improvements were made, some incremental and some large to address the above-mentioned pain points to enable customers to achieve high quality industrial metal additive manufacturing.”
