Beam-IT acquires two additional SLM Solutions 3D printers
The companies will also jointly establish new material parameters

Italian additive manufacturing service bureau Beam-IT is deepening its existing partnership with metal AM specialist SLM Solutions through a new agreement that will see it acquire two new SLM 3D printers. In addition to expanding its production portfolio, Beam-IT will also work closely with SLM Solutions to develop new material parameters to add value for both companies.
Based just outside of Parma in Italy, Beam-IT houses one of the largest additive manufacturing machine fleets in Europe and operates a number of cutting edge technologies, including DMLS, EBM, SLS and more. Most recently, the company expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of an additional SLM 280 Selective Laser Melting printer with twin lasers and an SLM 500 3D printer with a quad-laser configuration. Beam-IT says it is now operating a total of seven SLM machines.

“We are pleased to announce our cooperation agreement with SLM Solutions and the two additional machines,” commented Michele Antolotti, General Manager of Beam-IT. “We regularly produce high-quality parts for our customers using selective laser melting because the SLM technology works efficiently, quickly and, above all, safely. With the expanded capacity of our new multi-laser systems we can also increase our productivity and react to the increased interest in SLM technology from our customers.”
As mentioned, the companies will also work together to establish additional material parameters, specifically for the nickel-based alloys IN939 and IN718. The parameters will help to achieve superior print results using the selective laser melting process and the materials in question. By combining Beam-IT’s extensive technical experience with metal AM and SLM Solutions’ process knowledge, the companies aim to achieve a shorter timeframe for parameter testing
Beam-IT’s technical experience as an experienced metal additive manufacturing user will allow them to develop unique parameters with high-quality characteristics. The knowledge-sharing between the two companies during this process will be mutually beneficial in creating a shorter timeframe for parameter testing.

“Beam-IT has a high technical expertise and is working with the Selective Laser Melting technology every day,” commented Kamer Geyisi, Sales Manager at SLM Solutions. “As a partner to our customers throughout the entire additive manufacturing process chain, SLM Solutions is pleased to share our knowledge with Beam-IT and believe that we will also benefit from their experience with the technology. This partnership approach benefits both our companies, but will also help advance implementation of the technology throughout the entire market.”
