As we anticipated (though it was already common knowledge after the teasers and leaked photos), Bambu Lab launched the X2D today, April 14. Designed as a successor to its X1 series, the system introduces a mechanical nozzle-switching mechanism, active-chamber thermal management, and AI-derived calibration logic carried over from the company’s H series.

Explore the innovative features of Bambu Lab X2D, including dual extrusion and advanced thermal management for superior printing. The printer’s defining feature is a dual extrusion architecture that integrates two extruder configurations into a single printhead without adding a motor to the toolhead. The primary nozzle uses a direct-drive setup, while the secondary nozzle operates in a Bowden configuration with the motor mounted at the rear of the machine. The arrangement allows the primary nozzle to print the model while the secondary deposits support material from a different filament—one chosen for tool-free removal. Bambu Lab said durability testing logged more than one million switching cycles without performance loss.

The X2D runs Bambu’s Dynamic Flow Calibration system, which continuously monitors the extrusion motor, hotend, nozzles, and filament and compensates for deviations before they affect the output. A proprietary PMSM servo motor samples torque and position at 20,000 times per second and can detect filament jams before they interrupt a print. The automatic calibration routine runs before each job without user input.

Explore the innovative features of Bambu Lab X2D, including dual extrusion and advanced thermal management for superior printing. Thermal management operates in two modes. Cool Mode circulates fresh air for PLA bridges and overhangs, while Heat Mode raises the chamber to 65°C with nozzle temperatures up to 300°C—conditions suited to ABS, ASA, and Nylon with reduced warping risk. An optional Vision Encoder brings positional accuracy down to 50 microns. The machine includes a triple-stage filtration system combining a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter, and activated coconut carbon and operates below 50 dB in silent mode.

Starting at $649

The X2D is available immediately through bambulab.com. The standard configuration is priced at $649 in the United States, €629 (approximately $680) in the European Union (tax included), and $699 globally. The Combo version, which includes the AMS multi-material system, is priced at $899 in the United States, €849 (approximately $920) in the EU, and $949 globally.

The build volume is 256 × 256 × 260 mm using the primary nozzle alone, or 235.5 × 256 × 256 mm when both nozzles are in use. The machine carries 31 sensors monitoring the filament path, thermal environment, and safety systems.
