Bambu Lab launches P2S 3D printer with updated features from H Series
Redesigned model brings new extrusion system, AI error detection, and adaptive airflow cooling while retaining affordability
Bambu Lab has released the P2S, a new desktop 3D printer that modernizes the company’s P Series with technologies introduced in its H2 line, including a new servo extruder, adaptive airflow controls, and AI-based error detection. Positioned as a successor to the widely adopted P1P and P1S models, the P2S maintains a compact form factor and is priced at $549 (excluding tax) for the base version and $799 for the Combo model with AMS 2 Pro multi-color support.
Build updates target print farms and advanced users
The P2S combines several technologies originally developed for the H2D and H2S models, including a DynaSense extruder architecture and a quick-swap hotend system designed for simplified maintenance. The printer also introduces a new user interface on a 5-inch touchscreen, with smoother navigation and enhanced guidance features. Bambu Lab reports that the updated servo-driven extruder delivers up to 8.5 kg of force, a 70% increase over the previous generation, with real-time filament monitoring at 20 kHz to reduce clogging and print failures.
Other updates include a high-speed 1080p live-view camera, auto-calibration of flow dynamics via an eddy-current sensor, and a flap-controlled airflow system that adjusts cooling and heat retention based on material needs. These systems are designed to improve overhang quality when printing low-temperature filaments and maintain chamber heat for materials prone to warping.
AI-based error detection has also been added, with onboard computer vision systems capable of identifying print defects such as “spaghetti,” nozzle blobs, and mismatches between print settings and hardware.
Continuity with the P Series legacy
The P2S retains a 256 mm build volume and 300°C nozzle temperature support, continuing the platform’s compatibility with a range of consumer and engineering-grade materials. The new printer includes sensors for door position, filament runout, tangles, and power loss recovery, as well as a built-in filament cutter.
According to Bambu Lab, over 70% of global print farms operate at least one P1P or P1S, making the P Series a dominant platform in small-scale additive manufacturing. The P2S aims to extend that footprint by offering more automation and reliability features at the same sub-$600 price point. The P2S Combo includes the AMS 2 Pro multi-color module, with active filament drying capabilities that the company claims improves drying efficiency by 30%.
While the P2S marks a generational update to the P Series, Bambu Lab states that it will continue to sell and support the P1S model. The company has not disclosed plans for a P2P variant at this time.
