Axtra3D will bring its Lumia X1 stereolithography 3D printer to IMTS next week, demonstrating the printer’s Hybrid PhotoSynthesis System (HPS) as well as sample production parts spanning applications from aerospace to medical.

The Axtra3D Lumia X1

The Lumia X1 builds parts measuring up to 249 by 140 by 495 millimeters, with layer resolution ranging from 25 to 200 microns and XY resolution of 45 microns, and runs Extreme Quality, High Quality or DLP build modes as an open system compatible with 405-nanometer resins. Axtra3D attributes rapid layer detachment and the ability to print large cross-sections and viscous resins to a patented feature called TruLayer Technology.

A connected production system

Alongside the printer, Axtra3D will also demonstrate its Axtra Workflow, a fully connected, closed-loop manufacturing system running from part setup through final delivery. The system links the Lumia X1 with software for print setup and material maintenance and with separate units for washing, curing and process monitoring.

The monitoring stage, called Axtra.Insight, tracks the process using more than 155 sensors on the printer and additional units on post-processing equipment.

The connected system is intended to address inconsistencies in materials, calibration and environment that manufacturers encounter when running standalone equipment and to make it easier to validate production for regulated applications.

Axtra3D brought Axtra Workflow to the North American market earlier this year and has also been expanding its reseller network in the territory in recent months.
