Axtra3D marks five years as a production-focused additive manufacturing company
Hi-Speed SLA developer cites disciplined growth strategy, strong customer retention, and an expanding global footprint as it reaches its half-decade milestone at RAPID + TCT
Axtra3D, a developer of Hi-Speed stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing systems, is marking its fifth anniversary at this year’s RAPID + TCT event.
The company, co-founded by Gianni Zitelli and Praveen Tummala, was built on a mission to enable low-volume production and to bridge additive manufacturing with traditional manufacturing methods, and it has reported sustained year-over-year revenue growth of 41% since commercialization.
“Our vision from the start was to build a global, production-focused additive manufacturing company,” said Gianni Zitelli, who is also CEO at Axtra3D. “We made a clear choice from the beginning to develop technologies designed for industrial production. This guides both our solutions, which are engineered for reliability, repeatability, and economic sustainability, and the way we build and manage the company.
“We believe the true value of AM emerges in production environments. For this reason, our growth is directly tied to that of our customers.”
Axtra3D says it has achieved a 55%+ repeat customer rate, with an average system uptime and capacity utilization above 85%.
“In a sector often shaped by excessive expectations, we have chosen to avoid overhype and focus on tangible, lasting results,” continued Zitelli. “It is a model that requires discipline, long-term vision, and a constant commitment to industrial value. At Axtra, we do not measure success by how fast we grow, but by how solidly we contribute to the manufacturing transformation of our customers.”
Technology, business models, and financial discipline
Axtra3D’s core technology is its Hybrid PhotoSynthesis (HPS) process, which uses a laser and a digital light processing (DLP) projector simultaneously to image resin, combined with TruLayer layer separation technology. The company reported a 20x increase in throughput over traditional SLA systems while preserving part accuracy.
The flagship Lumia X1 system embeds these technologies and sits at the center of the Axtra Workflow, which also includes Axtra.Wash and Axtra.Cure post-processing hardware and the Axtra.Insight process monitoring software.

The company operates two commercial models: Axtra Solutions, which provides fully validated production workflows, and Axtra OpenAccess, which allows customers to test new materials and applications.
“Our business model has always been centered around the customer,” said Rajeev Kulkarni, Chief Strategy Officer at Axtra3D. “By focusing on complete solutions, enabling customer flexibility through Axtra Solutions and Axtra OpenAccess, and building a strong software and material ecosystem with partners, we provide an ideal mix for customers to adopt and scale additive manufacturing in production environments.”
The prioritization of responsible, strategic financial management has also been a central theme of Axtra3D’s business approach and has paved the way for significant and sustainable growth. It operates dual facilities in the US and Europe and has a new, expanded European facility planned for inauguration in June 2026. It also recently expanded its European and US operational footprints with distribution deals.
“One of our core tenets has been disciplined financial stewardship,” said Praveen Tummala, COO of Axtra3D. “We focus on long-term planning and scale our infrastructure deliberately in step with operational growth. Our commitment is to remain a financially responsible company.”
