Axtra3D, a leader in High-Speed SLA 3D printing, is officially releasing Spectroplast TrueSilX50, a groundbreaking true silicone formulation designed exclusively for the Axtra3D Lumia X1 printer. The availability of this solution and material—which was first unveiled a few weeks ago—expands the Axtra Solutions portfolio for industrial and healthcare applications.

Building upon Axtra3D’s no-tradeoff Hi-Speed SLA technology, TrueSilX50 enables the high-precision, high-speed printing of fully elastomeric silicone parts without compromising material integrity or performance. Its properties mark this as a significant breakthrough over extruded silicone. In a rapidly expanding market for silicone 3D printing, TrueSilX50 became the first pure silicone material to be processed using AM photopolymerization, achieving superior part quality, accuracy, and mechanical properties.

Discover how TrueSilX50 transforms high-speed SLA 3D printing with its superior mechanical properties and true silicone formulation. Unmatched material performance and surface quality

TrueSilX50, the first in a series of silicone materials, brings the durability and flexibility expected of molded silicone into a scalable, production-ready 3D printing process. It meets the mechanical demands of medical, industrial, and wearable applications with a 48A Shore Durometer, 330% Elongation at Break, and 22N/m tear strength. Biocompatibility testing is currently in progress, and Axtra3D anticipates that this material will pass key biocompatibility tests, including Cytotoxicity, Skin Irritation, and Skin Sensitization, like the previous TrueSil Silicones from Spectroplast. Unlike extruded silicone, which struggles with layering artifacts and surface roughness, TrueSilX50 provides an ultra-smooth, precise, isotropic finish, eliminating inconsistencies and delivering exceptional feature detail, even in complex geometries.

“Since our inception, Axtra3D has focused on delivering advanced, reliable manufacturing solutions,” said Rajeev Kulkarni, CSO of Axtra3D. He continues, “With our proven success in mold production, expanding into true silicone AM is the next significant step. This silicone formulation and our HPS process ensure that parts retain the mechanical and chemical properties ideal for medical devices, wearable technology, and industrial components and seals. The biocompatibility, durability, and precision significantly increase its breadth of applications.”

Expanding AM applications with Spectroplast TrueSilX50

TrueSilX50 removes traditional manufacturing constraints, offering an ideal solution for a wide range of applications, as confirmed by Axtra3D’s early customers. In healthcare and medical fields, it supports creating anatomical models, wearable medical devices, baby care products, cosmetic applicators, and vascular and organ models. For industrial and automation uses, it enables the production of sealants, gaskets, keypads, waterproof enclosures, sanitary solutions for food processing, and components for household appliances.

Moreover, in the audiology and dental sectors, it allows for fabricating custom-fit hearing aids, mouthguards, and dental appliances that ensure superior fit, comfort, and reduced lead times. The TrueSilX50 printing workflow is fully optimized for repeatability, reliability, and seamless integration into production processes. With minimal post-processing and no compromise on material performance, TrueSilX50 delivers an efficient, scalable solution for industries demanding the highest precision, durability, and surface quality standards.
