Automotive AM Focus 2021 eBook

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

After the first 12 very successful issues in 2020, 3dpbm’s AM Focus 2021 eBook is back with this year’s first edition, zooming in on automotive additive manufacturing. Like every eBook edition, this issue is published as part of our month-long AM Focus, where we had the opportunity to highlight some of the most advanced and fascinating activities in this vibrant segment of AM.

Perhaps as an effect of the slowdown in the aerospace segment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 saw a flurry of new activities in automotive production. As high-productivity metal binder jetting technologies near full market commercialization and metal PBF technologies continue to evolve, large batch demands from the mass automotive market segment are going to be increasingly met, as witnessed by GM’s AM engineers in our exclusive interview and cover story.

In the meantime, the luxury car and motorsports segments continue to expand on their AM adoption, both for mass customization, higher performance and faster development capabilities. The Bugatti Bolide represents the culmination of these evident trends and we will look under its hood in a fantastic case study.

Our Automotive AM eBook—the first in this year’s series of AM Focus publications—comprises an analysis of automotive and AM players working at the intersection of both industries, specific insights and applications, market forecasts and expert views. We will look at the most significant market trends and particularly the rise of EVs and how this segment is now evolving into a major driver for the adoption of AM in the production of electric powertrain parts, as well as several other components.

3dpbm’s eBook can be viewed by scrolling through the document above or downloaded for viewing on your favorite mobile device. In our effort to maintain an open discourse and open access to AM news, the publication is free to access. We at 3dpbm have been ardently following the progress of automotive AM for years, and we are pleased to put the industry in the spotlight in a new, reader-friendly way!
