Authentise announces software integration with Autodesk Netfabb

Authentise users will benefit from a more streamlined process for editing and preparing 3D models for printing

Authentise, an AM process automation software provider, has just announced a new collaboration with 3D software giant Autodesk through which it will integrate Autodesk’s Netfabb software with its additive workflow management tools. The software integration will offer users a more seamless process for editing, preparing and monitoring 3D prints.

More precisely, Authentise customers will now have the ability to easily upload 3D models directly into the Netfabb platform thanks to Autodesk’s cloud-based Forge developer program. It is also now possible to upload models edited in Netfabb back into the Authentise process management software so that users can move their AM job along with quoting, scheduling, version control and data-driven monitoring.

The partnership follows Authentise’s recent collaboration with Prosper3D, which gives users the ability to choose between Authentise’s own quote generation tool or Prosper3D’s smart and automated quoting engine.

The Autodesk Netfabb integration will enable Authentise customers to further simplify and streamline the AM process by combining previously disparate steps into a comprehensive process. Authentise customer Danfoss, a manufacturer of cooling, heating and other machinery systems, will be one of the businesses to benefit from the integration.

“We are pleased to hear that Authentise and Autodesk are collaborating to create a seamless, integrated additive workflow,” commented Werner Stapela, Global Head of Additive Design & Manufacturing at Danfoss. “To date, additive manufacturing workflows have included dozens of steps with many unconnected tools. That is not scalable. To address this, we prefer integrating a variety of solutions as it enables choice and competition.”

Andre Wegner, CEO of Authentise, added: “Our experience with Danfoss and other customers has highlighted the fragmented process for additive as a real concern. At the same time, engineers worry that if their tools all come from the same company, they won’t get access to the best possible solutions. With this integration we have proven you can have your cake and eat it too – use the best tools for the job in a completely seamless workflow. While we have proven our open approach with third-party algorithm integrations in the past, this is the first time we are working to craft a joint customer journey. We are proud to be doing so with Autodesk.”

The integration is available to Authentise clients who subscribe to its Additive Accelerator program as well as any version of Autodesk’s Netfabb, a widely used software platform for editing, optimizing, simulating and preparing 3D models for printing.

“We are delighted to work with Authentise to connect the additive production workflow from start to finish,” said Robert Yancey, Director for Manufacturing and Production Industry Strategy at Autodesk. “Together, we will not only ensure cohesive user experiences but work to connect production feedback directly with the design, and vice versa.

“We also expect to work with Authentise to automate the additive process even further by embedding our features at key points of the production journey. With these integrations we are taking yet another step towards industrializing additive manufacturing and making the most of its natural data advantage.”

The joint software integration will be showcased at Formnext 2018 in Frankfurt, where both Authentise and Autodesk will be in attendance
