# Artec Jet LiDAR scanner can digitize entire sites via drone or handheld

[Artec 3D, a 3D scanning technology company based in Luxembourg](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/artec-group/), has released Artec Jet, a Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)-based LiDAR scanner designed for large-scale 3D data capture across demanding environments.

The device achieves an indoor and underground accuracy of 10mm and detects changes as small as 5mm, and users can improve global accuracy further through Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) accessories that enable Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-assisted georeferencing and reduce positional drift.

The scanner is a fully flexible solution too – it can operate across seven different modes, including handheld, backpack, drone, vehicle-mounted, protective cage, telescopic pole, and robotic integration. Its ability to function in GPS-denied spaces, complete darkness, and environments considered too hazardous for direct human access also makes it versatile.

“With Artec Jet, we're entering an exciting new chapter,” stated Art Yukhin, President & CEO of Artec 3D. “Our mission has always been to make 3D scanning as fast, accurate, and intuitive as possible.

“Artec Jet expands this approach into larger environments, empowering our customers to capture infrastructure with the same level of confidence and ease. This incredibly versatile device brings unprecedented speed, precision, and autonomy to reality capture at scale.”

## Autonomous flight and companion software

[When mounted on a drone](https://www.voxelmatters.com/us-marine-corps-develops-its-first-ndaa-approved-3d-printed-drone/), Artec Jet operates without human input, independently planning flight paths and avoiding obstacles as small as 2mm wires. If battery levels fall below safe thresholds, the drone automatically returns to its launch point.

Accompanying the hardware is Artec Twins, [a new addition to the company’s software offerings](https://www.voxelmatters.com/artec-3d-launches-artec-studio-lite/), which provides a processing and visualization platform purpose-built for large-scale point cloud data. It enables processing, merging, georeferencing, and inspection within a single workflow.

Built to IP65 standards for dust and water resistance, Artec Jet weighs 1.57kg and can operate within a temperature range of -10°C to 45°C.
