Are Giant Companies Taking Over 3D Printing?

Some of the largest companies in the world have begun to look at 3D printing as a viable business. Who are the giant companies that are first in line?

To find out check out my post on Aniwaa.com, where I discuss how giant companies like Autodesk first, then HP, Ricoh and Canon presented their different approaches to the 3D printing industry. Most of them are targeting the B2C segment, as an evolution of large format 2D digital printing.

Now, though, Polaroid launched its own desktop machine, trying to use the power of its brand to succeed where 3D Systems and MakerBot (Stratasys) have failed in the past.

At the same time two of the tech’s giants, Apple and Google, are investing heavily both in 3D scanning and rapid or full color, 3D printing technologies. Microsoft (the first company to try to integrate 3D printing into its operating system), with its Hololens, is not far behind.
