APWORKS qualifies Farsoon FS422M for Scalmalloy production

APWORKS, a leading pioneer in metal additive manufacturing, qualified the FS422M system from Farsoon for the production of Scalmalloy parts. This AM-specific advanced aluminum-scandium alloy, is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and exceptional corrosion resistance. APWORKS installed its first Farsoon metal 3D printer late last year.

“Qualifying the Farsoon FS422M for Scalmalloy represents a significant milestone,” said Jon Meyer, CEO at APWORKS. “This achievement enables us to deliver even greater value to our customers through higher rate of production and also allows us to produce larger size parts. We have been impressed by the mechanical properties achieved on the Farsoon system which are consistently in the upper quartile of the tensile strength we have seen across the many different powder bed fusion systems we have qualified Scalmalloy® on.” Recently Mr Meyer discussed APWORKS’ AM production business and it’s Scalmalloy products on VoxelMatters’ VM Podcast.

Developed specifically for metal AM processes, Scalmalloy is the material of choice for sectors requiring lightweight, high-strength, and corrosion-resistant components, such as aerospace, automotive, and robotics. By qualifying the Farsoon FS422M for Scalmalloy production, APWORKS (and other Farsoon customers) will be ale to leverage the system’s large build volume and multi-laser production capabilities.
