Apium launches new Apium P 155 PEEK 3D printer

In November 2016, Apium, a pioneer in PEEK 3D printing,  announced the development of the Apium P series 3D printers: the Apium P 155 and Apium P220, designed for multi-material usage. The new systems allow users to process a wide range of high performance polymers, including PEEK, PVDF, POM-C and PEI 9085.

The adoption of FFF 3D printing technologies in industrial applications is approaching an inflection point with the introduction of high performance polymers in this manufacturing space. With the launch of the first ever available PEEK filament in March 2015 by Apium (formerly known as Indmatec), a whole new area of opportunity in FFF 3D printing technology began to take shape.

Apium’s innovative work on 3D printer development led to the launch of “HPP 155”, the first-ever FFF 3D printer specially designed for printing PEEK in November 2015. This disruptive accomplishment ushered in perspectives that many never thought possible in mainstream manufacturing.

One of the best features of the new Apium P series 3D printers is their advanced capability for processing high performance polymers. Apium’s state-of-the-art print head technology, coupled with the Apium Controlling Software with 65 adjustable parameters, enables users to control the stiffness, density, crystallinity and many other material properties.

The first generation of the Apium P series 3D printers, the Apium P 155, is equipped with a full metal hot-end capable of reaching temperatures up to 520°C and a print bed that can be heated up to 160°C. Apium combines the outstanding properties of high performance polymers with German engineering to enable manufacturing of complex structures such as honeycomb geometries and closed hollows structures, with considerable material and weight savings. This can be accomplished with reduced production steps by manufacturing complex sub-assemblies in a single part.
