Anycubic launches S1 Combo multi-color CoreXY 3D printer

Shenzhen-based 3D printer manufacturer Anycubic has launched the pre-sale for its latest consumer desktop 3D printer, the Anycubic S1 Combo. The new system is the company’s third multi-color 3D printer (capable of printing up to eight colored filaments in a single job) and the first with a fully enclosed CoreXY structure.

CoreXY 3D printer structures are becoming increasingly sought after, as they can offer greater precision and accuracy than more traditional cartesian systems. In short, CoreXY printers rely on two motors and drive belts to move the printhead on a horizontal plane. Since the motors themselves are static and separate from the printhead, there is a reduction in moving mass, which can enable faster print speeds and greater movement precision.

The Anycubic S1 Combo integrates this structure, setting it apart from Anycubic’s existing multi-color 3D printers, the Kobra 3 Combo and Kobra 3 Max. The 3D printer is also fully enclosed, which helps to ensure greater consistency for print quality and enables the printing of more materials, such as ABS and ASA. The upcoming machine has a build volume of 250 x 250 x 250 mm and print speeds up to 600 mm/s.

Other notable hardware features include a triple cooling system for superior thermal management and an upgraded hotend, which has an aerospace-grade ceramic composite extruder capable of reaching up to 320 °C. The 3D printer comes equipped with a standard 0.4 mm hotend, however it is easy to switch out the nozzles for various sizes thanks to the tools-free hotend disassembly system.

In terms of calibration, the new S1 Combo 3D printer is equipped with automatic bed leveling and Z-axis compensation technology, as well as Resonance Compensation and Flow Correction features, which improve the printing process and overall print quality. Anycubic has also integrated a monitoring system for the CoreXY belt tension, which will alert users if any tension discrepancies occur.

For multi-material management, the S1 Combo requires the Color Engine Pro (ACE Pro), a filament feeding device that can hold up to four filaments (for eight-color printing, it is possible to combine two ACE Pro systems). Beyond functioning as a feeding system, the ACE Pro integrates an anti-tangling design and ensures filaments are protected from moisture and are stored at the optimal temperature.

As part of the pre-sale launch, Anycubic is offering the S1 Combo at an “exclusive introductory price” of $549 (regularly $749). This will be available for a very limited window (until January 5, 2025). From there, the company has additional early bird pre-sale deals until the 3D printer is ready to ship on February 11th.
