Dutch 3D printing designer Anouk Wipprecht has made headlines with her 3D printed and interactive SmokeDress, SpiderDress and Drinkbot Dress. Her latest creation – the SpeakerDress – becomes your own eerie wearable Boombox.
It is based on Alienology speakers & Anouk’s own teensy + audio adaptor; with a set of sensors in the front of the dress allowing to modify sounds using hand gestures. While the SomeDress and SpiderDress reacted to external stimuli, and the Drinkbot served you drinks on demand, the SpeakerDress turns the body in an veritable mobile hi-fi system.
The Dress was designed at Autodesk Pier 9, the Autodesk creative studio that Anouk Wipprecht has collaborated with for a long time, using Autodesk Fusion 360 software. The original prototyped was first showcased at #LFFTF2017 (Looking Forward Fashion Tech Festival).

Anouk Wipprecht is an Dutch Designer and Innovator working in the emerging field of “FashionTech” – a rare combination of fashion design combined with engineering, robotics, science and interaction/user experience design to make fashion an experience that transcends mere appearances. She wants her garments to facilitate and augment the interactions we have with ourselves and our surroundings. Her Spider Dress is a perfect example of this aesthetic, where sensors and moveable arms on the dress help to create a more defined boundary of personal space while employing a fierce style.
Partnering up with companies such as Intel, AutoDesk, Google, Microsoft, Cirque Du Soleil, Audi, and 3D printing company Materialise she researches how our future would look as we continue to embed technology into what we wear.
