Anouk Wipprecht’s Latest 3D Printed SpeakerDress Turns You Into an Alien Boombox

Stay up to date with everything that is happening in the wonderful world of AM via our LinkedIn community.

Dutch 3D printing designer Anouk Wipprecht has made headlines with her 3D printed and interactive SmokeDress, SpiderDress and Drinkbot Dress. Her latest creation – the SpeakerDress – becomes your own eerie wearable Boombox.

It is based on Alienology speakers & Anouk’s own teensy + audio adaptor; with a set of sensors in the front of the dress allowing to modify sounds using hand gestures. While the SomeDress and SpiderDress reacted to external stimuli, and the Drinkbot served you drinks on demand, the SpeakerDress turns the body in an veritable mobile hi-fi system.

The Dress was designed at Autodesk Pier 9, the Autodesk creative studio that Anouk Wipprecht has collaborated with for a long time, using Autodesk Fusion 360 software. The original prototyped was first showcased at #LFFTF2017 (Looking Forward Fashion Tech Festival).

She wants her garments to facilitate and augment the interactions we have with ourselves and our surroundings. Her Spider Dress is a perfect example of this aesthetic, where sensors and moveable arms on the dress help to create a more defined boundary of personal space while employing a fierce style.
