Anisoprint and Thought3D team up to solve adhesion for carbon fiber 3D printing

Seeing the first layer of your 3D printed part peel off mid-build is always disappointing, and results in wasted print time and materials. Thankfully, there are a handful of companies that have honed their expertise in chemicals and materials to develop 3D printing-specific adhesives to solve the scourge of the maker. One of those companies is Malta-based Thought3D, which offers a range of Magigoo adhesives for hobbyist and professional 3D printing materials.
Today, Thought3D announces a new collaboration with Luxembourg-based 3D printer manufacturer Anisoprint. Through the partnership, Anisoprint will supply a Magigoo adhesive with every Anisoprint Composer 3D printer it sells. The aim, of course, is to make the 3D printing process as seamless as possible for the end-user.

The Anisoprint Composer is a fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printer with composite printing capabilities (Composite Filament Co-extrusion or CFC). The machine combines a unique extruder composition, consisting of two thermoplastic filament extruders and a third extruder for composite fibers. Used in combination, the extruders can print parts from PLA, PETG, ABS, Nylon and PC that are reinforced with strengthening carbon fibers.
The addition of the carbon fibers doesn’t help in the first layer adhesion problem, especially with materials such as PETG, ABS, Nylon and PC, which are typically harder to print with than PLA, for instance. With these materials, peeling and warping are common occurrences, which presents a range of difficulties for 3D printer users.
Of course, the Anisoprint Composer does come with heated print bed, which helps to keep the first layer of a print stuck, but it is not a completely effective solution. That’s where Thought3D’s Magigoo products come in to save the day. Thought3D offers a range of adhesive products, each developed for a specific material or group of materials. The original Magigoo solution, for instance, is an effective adhesive for PLA, ABS and PETG, while stronger adhesives have been developed for use with PC and Nylon.
