AMufacture invests in further HP printer acquisition as part of growth strategy
The UK additive manufacturing company has seen a seven-fold increase in its manufacturing capacity in the past two years
AMufacture, an AM industry-leading contractor, has received a seven-figure private equity investment that has enabled it to significantly expand its range of HP 3D printers.
The UK-based company held an open day event on January 20 at its HQ, at which it revealed its new range of technology. It now has five HP MJF printers in operation, four of which are cutting-edge 5620 series machines and a 5420 white printer – one of only two in the UK, and which the company claims is the only one available for contract manufacturing.
In response to a growing demand for industrial-scale production capabilities, the new set-up includes automatic changeover systems and robotic arms which represent a step up in both innovation and capacity.
Businesses in the defense sector are a growing client base for AMufacture, with drone components a particular area of growth. This is down to the company’s geographic location as much as to a general market trend, but the wider AM industry is seeing more and more UAV component development overall.
“Considering our location in Portsmouth, at the heart of a defence and security cluster of businesses that work in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, we were not surprised at the interest from defence industry suppliers,” said AMufacture CEO Craig Pyser.
“This area has significant drone manufacturing, and there is a growing market for 3D-printed UAV parts, thanks to advancements in additive manufacturing technologies and the need for lightweight and complex drone components.”
Alongside the expanded range of MJF machines, AMufacture also has capacity for Fused Deposition Modelling for specialist high-temperature material applications, and dedicated post-processing infrastructure for dyeing, vapour fusing and finishing.
The company’s growth drive has been significant in recent months – along with the aforementioned investment and acquisition of new equipment, it also appointed former Dyson MD David Hollander towards the end of 2025 as part of its expansion plans.
AMufacture has previously confirmed it’s targeting both domestic growth in the UK market and international expansion.
