AMufacture appoints former Dyson executive to lead international growth

David Hollander, the former Managing Director of Dyson, has joined Portsmouth-based AMufacture to support its continued growth and international expansion. The move comes as the company, founded in 2018 by Craig Pyser and Will Howden, accelerates its scale-up following a fresh round of investment.

AMufacture has established itself as a leading contract manufacturer in the additive manufacturing sector, with a client base spanning the marine, automotive, and defense industries. The company recently secured follow-on funding from private equity firm Maven Capital and Scottish co-investor Turner, which has a century-long track record of backing growth-stage businesses.

“We now have seven times the capacity we had two years ago, with real opportunities to expand both in other parts of the U.K. and internationally,” said Hollander, who brings more than four decades of experience in business transformation and leadership.

“What I’m bringing—from my time at Dyson and elsewhere—is the benefit of having done this before. I greatly admire Will and Craig’s ambition and the progress they’ve already made, and I’m impressed by the focused support they’ve received from their investors.”

Hollander noted that additive manufacturing, once limited to R&D, has reached a point where it is cost-effective for shorter production runs and agile manufacturing scenarios.

Strategic leadership and capital backing

Craig Pyser, who also chairs AMUK, the U.K. additive manufacturing trade association, said Hollander’s appointment reflects the company’s trajectory as it looks to scale further.

“David’s experience, knowledge, and passion for innovation will play a crucial role in our next phase of growth,” said Pyser. “He was part of the leadership team that helped drive Dyson’s manufacturing success and brings valuable perspective from his work with other major corporates and private equity-backed businesses.”

Will Howden, a former naval architect and Olympic sailor, emphasized AMufacture’s technology leadership.
