The Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) in Australia is preparing to welcome its first AMCM 3D printer equipped with beam shaping technology, marking a significant advancement in the country’s additive manufacturing capabilities. Thanks to the strategic collaboration with EOS/AMCM reseller Additive Australia, the facility will soon take delivery of the AMCM M 290-1 FLX, an industry-ready system poised to expand the boundaries of what is possible in 3D metal printing.

Learn about the capabilities of the AMCM M 290-1 FLX at AMRF, featuring beam shaping technology for superior precision.

The AMCM M 290-1 FLX system has been engineered with variable spot sizes ranging from 85 to 210 micrometers and integrated with an Optical Tomography (OT) camera. This machine introduces an unmatched level of precision, flexibility, and control.

Beam shaping, the standout feature of the new AMCM system, enables rapid transitions between spot sizes in mere milliseconds. This capacity significantly enhances production speed and allows for diverse material processing, boosting productivity up to three times compared to conventional systems.

The system is designed with a modular architecture and includes plug-in modules that can be easily swapped to suit different applications. One notable feature is platform heating up to 500 degrees Celsius—an exclusive capability of AMCM systems, allowing operators to tailor the machine environment to match the material and process requirements. This modularity ensures the AMCM M 290-1 FLX can quickly adapt to evolving project needs, delivering both efficiency and versatility.

Located in Bradfield City, the AMRF operates as a hub for technological innovation, offering a collaborative space for manufacturers to access state-of-the-art equipment, expert guidance, and technical training. Its goal is accelerating the development and adoption of advanced manufacturing solutions in Australia. With the introduction of the AMCM M 290-1 FLX, the facility takes a decisive step toward achieving that mission, bridging capability gaps and empowering Australian manufacturers to compete globally.

This investment is not just about acquiring high-end equipment; it represents a strategic move to drive forward Australia’s broader goals in supplier enablement and sustainment, especially within the defense and commercial manufacturing sectors. By integrating this sophisticated hardware with the world-class knowledge base of EOS Global Additive Minds, the AMRF is positioning itself as a catalyst for transformative change in the region’s manufacturing landscape.

The arrival of the AMCM M 290-1 FLX will usher in a new era for the AMRF and its partners. Combining strategic collaboration, technological advancement, and national ambition will provide the tools and knowledge necessary to explore the full potential of beam shaping and additive manufacturing.
