A global trade group created to promote the environmental benefits of additive manufacturing, the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA), accepted twelve new members into its ranks. Each member is a leading AM company that aims to advance sustainability in AM.

The AMGTA was launched by Sintavia, LLC, Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation and QC Laboratories, Inc., at Formnext 2019. The co-founders continue to determine AMGTA’s strategic direction, provide governance oversight and consider future research projects that members may vote to commission.

The young organization comes into its own with the addition of these new twelve companies.

The new participating members are:

  • AMEXCI AB, an accelerator for the adoption of AM in Nordic industries;
  • Danish AM Hub, Denmark’s focal point for the AM ecosystem;
  • EOS, a leading technology supplier in the industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers;
  • GE Additive, a component of GE focused on additive design and manufacturing;
  • Materialise, which incorporates three decades of 3D printing experience into a range of software solutions and printing services;
  • the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland, a group of industry-led R&D facilities transforming skills, productivity, and innovation in Scotland;
  • Siemens Digital Industries Software, a driver of design, engineering and manufacturing transformation with its Xcelerator digital enterprise portfolio;
  • SLM Solutions Inc., the leading provider of industrial metal 3D printing machines focused on metal AM and multi-laser technologies; and
  • Stryker, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies.

These new members join AMGTA in its not-for-profit mission by meeting the organization’s base criteria:

  1. Has generated the majority of its manufacturing revenue through AM over the most recent fiscal year.
  2. Has adopted proactive internal policies relating to waste reduction and operational sustainability.
  3. Is a member of the Green Business Bureau or another similar certifying agency.
  4. Is willing to actively participate in the advancement and non-commercial promotion of the environmental benefits of AM within end markets and with the general public as a whole.

The new members will help AMGTA educate the public and other industrial players about AM’s positive environmental benefits. This education will, ideally, promote the adoption of AM as a means to fight climate change.
