# America Makes and NCDMM select winners of $6 million PADAM 2.0 project call

America Makes and the [National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM)](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/ncdmm/) have selected the winning teams of the Powder Alloy Development for Additive Manufacturing (PADAM) 2.0 project call, a $6 million program funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory's Foundational Technologies Directorate (AFRL/REMD).

[The program targets the readiness, manufacturability, performance and supply chain resilience of high-temperature refractory alloys for additive manufacturing](https://www.voxelmatters.com/america-makes-announces-8m-round-of-project-calls/) applications used by the Department of Defense.

The call was organized around three topics. Under Topic 1, covering existing refractory alloy systems, two teams were selected: one led by Lockheed Martin Corp. with Quadrus Corporation, the Colorado School of Mines and 3Degrees, and a second led by HRL Laboratories with the Boeing Company, Amaero, Alloyed and Texas A&M University. 

Topic 2, covering novel or emerging refractory alloy systems, went to a team led by ATI Materials with the Boeing Company and the University of Dayton Research Institute. Topic 3, a refractory alloy supply chain assessment described as spanning "mine-to-qualified part," was awarded to a team led by the Colorado School of Mines.

## Program aims to close a materials gap

“PADAM 2.0 is about moving AM refractory alloys from promise to practice,” said John Martin, Additive Manufacturing Research Director at America Makes. “Their outcomes will strengthen domestic manufacturing capability, lower barriers to qualification, and deliver more reliable, high-temperature materials for critical DoW and warfighter applications.
