AMAZE Project to Present Achievements in AM Adoption at Technology Forum 2017

Established in 2014, AMAZE – Additive Manufacturing Aiming Towards Zero Waste & Efficient Production of High-Tech Metal Products – is the largest and most ambitious European project in the field of metal additive manufacturing, through a collaboration of 26 world-leading companies and institutions.

The project aims to transform additive manufacture (AM) of metallic components into a mainstream industrial process. At the AMAZE Technology Forum 2017, set for June 7th, at the MTC Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre in the UK, participants will have the opportunity to see the results of the work completed thus far and hear what the association members have achieved in this ground breaking project. The project consortium has been working to rapidly produce large, defect-free metallic components up to two meters in size, ideally with zero waste, for use in high-tech sectors such as Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Space and Tooling.

The Consortium includes End-User companies AVIO, Thales Alenia Space, Airbus Group, ESA, BAE Systems, Volvo, CCFE, Bombardier, AM Feedstock. Hardware & software suppliers memebers are Avio, Norsk Titanium, TRUMPF, Renishaw, Concept Laser, Irepa Laser, MTC, BCTS, Tecnalia, Granta, ESI. Acedemic Research institutes are: UoB, Cranfield, Politecnico di Torino, EPFL, FAU, Manchester Uni, Swansea Uni, Fraunhofer.

The AMAZE project achieved this through new innovations in materials, product design, high productivity AM processes, in-process monitoring, new post-processing and inspection techniques. The AMAZE Technology Forum 2017 will feature both industrial and academic sessions covering key areas of focus within the project such as:

  • Wire and powder management
  • Design principles
  • Increasing AM productivity
  • In-situ sensing and non-destructive testing (NDT)
  • Automated post-processing
  • Pilot scale factories

As well as presentations given by the experts in the project, there will also be poster sessions and table top displays, where you can meet the AMAZE consortium members to find out more about the project, and the potential opportunities for future collaboration. There will also be tours of the MTC and presentations focussing on our demonstrator components.
