AM Ceramics 2025: Scaling ceramic AM from pilot to production
The 10th edition of the event will take place at TU Wien’s rooftop venue in Vienna on the 21st and 22nd of October

With ceramic additive manufacturing steadily moving from research laboratories to factory floors, AM Ceramics 2025 is back for its landmark 10th edition, further establishing its position as the leading global event for technical ceramics and sinter-based 3D printing. Taking place at TU Wien’s rooftop venue in Vienna on the 21st and 22nd of October, the conference will once again bring together thought leaders from the aerospace, medical, semiconductor, and research sectors to address an overarching theme:
“From pilot projects to production powerhouses”
Supported by Lithoz, a leading provider of ceramic AM solutions, this year’s agenda focuses heavily on the industrialisation of advanced ceramics, highlighting critical advances in materials science, process stability, and application integration.
VoxelMatters readers will be particularly interested in sessions that address these key challenges and breakthroughs of sinter-based additive manufacturing:
- How can ceramic AM enhance and complement traditional manufacturing methods in high-performance industries?
- How can ceramic 3D printing unlock new possibilities for compact and resilient sensing technologies?
- What advantages do 3D-printed ceramics offer for managing heat in high-performance systems?
- What are the key steps needed to transform ceramic AM from a promising research tool into a reliable technology for serial production?
These talks offer real-world answers. Christophe Brisset from Safran Tech demonstrates how ceramic parts can meet extreme performance metrics in the aerospace production sector with his talk “Bridging investment casting and additive manufacturing: A new core”. This approach demonstrates how additive manufacturing can improve existing industrial processes for critical applications.
As part of Europe’s largest ceramics research institute, Fraunhofer IKTS, Prof. Dr. Alexander Michaelis focuses on transferring cutting-edge research into industrial practice. With his talk “Challenges and Opportunities of Ceramic Additive Manufacturing”, he bridges advanced powder-based technologies with scalable ceramic additive manufacturing.
In their talk “R&D on 3D-printed ceramic devices for thermal management of particle detectors”, Dr. Massimo Angelletti and Paolo Petagna from CERN explore how ceramic AM is enabling entirely new design approaches for dealing with extreme thermal conditions in state-of-the-art detectors. This talk provides a unique insight into how one of the world’s leading research institutions is using ceramic AM to meet the demands for precision and reliability of tomorrow’s scientific breakthroughs.
Marc Christ from the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH), is presenting FBH’s pioneering work in “Shrinking the quantum lab: high-precision sensors and robust optical systems enabled by additively manufactured ceramics”. These components are essential for developing next-generation quantum technologies that are more compact, resilient, and ready for deployment outside of the laboratory.
His session bridges the gap between advanced materials science and practical photonic engineering, which aligns with the mission of FBH to transform lab-scale innovations into scalable, real-world systems.
Complementing the talks is a one-of-a-kind program. This includes a variety of tours of the Innovation Lab at the Lithoz headquarters, which illustrate the synergy between material development, LCM printer precision, and functional part design. As well as the hands-on medical workshop with KLS Martin on “3D-Printed Bioceramic Patient-Specific Implants (PSI): From Injury to Surgery”.
Why AM Ceramics 2025 matters for the AM community
- Bridging Research and Industry: It’s one of the few conferences where high-level academic research and real-world production workflows intersect.
- Tenacity at the Frontier: Experience how 3D-printed ceramics are overcoming the limitations of conventional materials in high-performance environments with extreme requirements.
In short, AM Ceramics 2025 is where research excellence meets industrial maturity, a must-watch event for anyone involved in sinter-based additive manufacturing.
