Alloyed closes £37m Series B, targeting satellites, wearables and electronics
Abingdon facility houses one of Europe’s largest fleets of additive manufacturing machines
Alloyed Ltd, a leading innovator in high-performance metallic alloys and components, has successfully closed a £37 million Series B funding round. The Oxford-based company will use the investment to expand its manufacturing operations in Abingdon, UK, and Seattle, USA, while accelerating the development of its digital platforms for alloy design and processing.
The funding round was led by Japanese investment firms SPARX and the Development Bank of Japan, with participation from Aviva Investors and Germany-based Future Industry Ventures. Existing investors, including Oxford Science Enterprises, JX Advanced Metals, and Anglo American plc, also contributed to the round.
Founded in 2017 as a spinout from Oxford University, Alloyed is at the forefront of the automated design and manufacturing revolution. The company develops cutting-edge alloys for aerospace, electronics, and wearables, serving high-profile clients including Boeing, Microsoft, Anglo American, and BMW.
Alloyed’s core focus is on additive manufacturing, which enables the creation of highly complex metal parts with integrated functionalities. Its Abingdon facility houses one of Europe’s largest fleets of additive manufacturing machines, further solidifying its leadership in the sector.
The company’s advanced metal alloys are utilized across various industries. In aerospace, its lightweight antennas and structural components are used in satellites. In aviation, high-temperature-resistant alloys are integrated into jet engines. For wearables, Alloyed produces precision metal parts for virtual reality headsets and smartwatches. It also supplies high-precision components for jewelry and electronics, supporting the luxury and tech industries.
The demand for stronger, lighter, and more cost-effective metals is growing as industries adopt next-generation technologies. Alloyed’s expertise in digital alloy design and automated manufacturing, along with this latest Series B funding, places it in a strong position to lead this transformation.
Takaki Demichi of SPARX Asset Management expressed that additive manufacturing holds great potential for the energy transition and advanced industrial applications.
