Aleph Objects appoints former 3D Systems leader Grant Flaharty as new president

Aleph Objects Inc., known for its LulzBot 3D printing products, has appointed Grant Flaharty, the former President and COO of 3D Systems, as its new President. Flaharty, who acted as President and COO of 3D Systems between 1998 and 2006, more recently served as the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of German extrusion machine company battenfeld-cincinnati.

In taking on the leadership position at Colorado-based Aleph Objects, Flaharty will bring over 20 years of experience in executive positions at a number of high profile companies, including the aforementioned 3D Systems and battenfeld-cincinnati as well as Motorola and Qualcomm.

Within the additive industry specifically, Flaharty was in charge of European Operations and World Wide Revenue Generation at 3D Systems before being appointed its President and Chief Operating Office. Under his leadership, the 3D printing giant reportedly saw a global revenue increase of 80+% and strategically acquired a number of companies to expand its own scope and operations.

With Aleph Objects, Flaharty will put his broad experience in business development, operations and finance to help the 3D printer manufacturer increase its market shares.

“When I initially saw the 3D printed objects from [Aleph Objects’] new LulzBot Mini 2 using their latest high-detail tool head I was very excited to join the team,” commented Flaharty. “For an FFF machine to directly produce SLA-quality objects with functional end-use materials like ABS [as opposed to resins] is unprecedented for both the company and end users.”

In addition to the appointment of Flaharty as its President, Aleph Objects has also recruited Hob Wubbena, the former Marketing Manager at Agilent Technologies, to take on the role of Vice President of Marketing. Wubbena, for his part, offers his extensive experience in leadership and marketing, which included a stint as Vice President of AI company Universal Logic and a marketing role at Hewlett-Packard in addition to Agilent Technologies.

In these positions, Wubbena played a critical role in the double-digit order growth of company revenues, and a quadruple increase in lead generation. Commenting on his new position at Aleph Objects, Wubbena stated: “The easy-to-use Lulzbot 3D printers—with their exceptional reliability, precise resolution, and Free Software and Open Source Hardware—are a paradigm shift for rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing.”

Aleph Objects, a strong proponent for open source additive manufacturing technology, recently released the new LulzBot Aerostruder v2 Micro Tool Head for its LulzBot Mini 2 3D printer. The tool head—which will be adapted for other LulzBot 3D printer models—enables users to 3D print high resolution parts with a quality not unlike resin-based 3D printing.

With the recent additions to its leadership team and its continual hardware and software updates, Aleph Objects says it is aiming to expand its operations and business even more.
