AIM3D, a German 3D printing company, has unveiled its new line of pellet extruders – further opening AM for large-format printers, robotic systems, and specialized process combinations. In addition to traditional 3D printing, these extruders can be leveraged for coating, joining, or applying material – offering a versatile, cost-effective alternative to filament-based methods.

AIM3D unveils new line of 3D printing pellet extruders, which can be also leveraged for coating, joining, or applying material. “Our approved CEM extruders are characterized by material diversity, robustness, and reproducibility. A special feature when using polymer pellets is the cost advantage in material input compared to 3D printing with filaments, but also improved mechanical properties. The transfer of the CEM technology through application-related, separate extruders as universal pellet extruders universally opens up a variety of new areas of application for third-party suppliers,” said Daniel Selck, CSO at AIM3D.

Designed to accommodate metals, ceramics, and high-performance polymers like ULTEM 9085 and PEEK, the new universal pellet extruders support build rates of up to 150 cm³/hour – eventually targeting 300–600 cm³/hour. They fit seamlessly with third-party systems – allowing manufacturers to adopt a cost-efficient, flexible, and environmentally conscious 3D printing solution.

By integrating AIM3D’s CEM extruders, businesses can expand into high-temperature and demanding material applications without sacrificing productivity – from automotive and aerospace components to coating processes and more.
