# AI Build joins 3MF Consortium to advance multi-axis 3D printing

[Aibuild](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/ai-build/) has officially become an associate of the [3MF Consortium](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/3mf-consortium/), reinforcing its dedication to advancing multi-axis additive manufacturing. The company, known for its AI-powered robotic 3D printing solutions, is now contributing to developing the 3MF Toolpath extension. This initiative aims to create a universal, interoperable machine control format for multi-axis deposition processes.

Daghan Cam, Co-Founder and CEO of Aibuild, emphasized the importance of standardized interoperability across different software and hardware platforms. “We are proud to join the 3MF Consortium as an associate member after our recent conversations with Duann Scott in New York – Cam said. As the additive manufacturing industry matures, we need standards and seamless interoperability between different software and hardware technologies, which is what 3MF has been working on for over a decade. We are particularly excited about the Toolpath extension that is currently in development and is spearheaded by Alexander Oster and his team. We are looking forward to further developing and adopting the new 3MF Toolpath extension in Aibuild software as the unifying interface for multi-axis systems across Direct Energy Deposition (DED), Fused Granule Fabrication (FGF), Cold Spray, Friction Stir, and more deposition-based processes.”

The 3MF Toolpath extension, led by Alexander Oster, aims to establish a universal toolpath format for additive manufacturing. While significant progress has been made in standardizing toolpaths for laser powder bed fusion, Aibuild’s expertise will help extend these capabilities to multi-axis robotic systems. This expansion will enable seamless integration across various additive manufacturing technologies, allowing manufacturers to adopt a standardized approach to complex deposition processes.

Traditional G-code and proprietary formats have long created inefficiencies in machine interoperability. The 3MF Toolpath extension addresses these challenges by offering a structured, machine-agnostic format that enhances consistency, interoperability, advanced metadata handling, and overall efficiency. Standardized toolpath data will ensure compatibility across different additive manufacturing processes, while seamless communication between software and hardware will enable manufacturers to operate more efficiently.

Advanced metadata capabilities will allow machine-specific parameters to be accurately controlled, while a structured toolpath approach will improve the processing of complex, multi-axis deposition tasks. By supporting this initiative, Aibuild is helping to establish an open-source toolpath standard that will drive automation, scalability, and efficiency in the additive manufacturing industry.
