Here are some of the stories that caught our eye from the AM landscape this week.

# Chinese spacecraft takes microgravity laser AM equipment into space

A spacecraft designed for space tourism completed a suborbital test flight this week, and provided initial proof that the rocket platform can support [space manufacturing](https://www.voxelmatters.com/researchers-3d-print-composites-that-self-form-in-space/).

Amongst the vessel’s payload was microgravity laser additive manufacturing equipment developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Mechanics.

The flight was operated by commercial Chinese aerospace enterprise CAS Space and returned to earth in northwest China on Monday, as reported by the country’s state council information office.

# Tekna reports titanium powder order from Tier-1 US Aerospace and Defense supplier

Leading provider of advanced materials and plasma systems to industry [Tekna](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/tekna/) has confirmed it has received a CAD$2 million ($1.44m) order, for high-performance titanium powder used in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing.

It’s the second order from the customer, after [a previous batch valued at CAD$1.6 million ($1.15m) was reported last July](https://www.voxelmatters.com/tekna-receives-cad-1-6-million-order-of-lpbf-titanium-powder/), which was a five-fold increase in quantity requested by the client. This latest contract will service deliveries scheduled through 2026.

“This second significant order from this Tier-1 U.S. aerospace and defense partner highlights the trust placed in Tekna and in our titanium powder solutions for critical additive manufacturing applications,” stated [Claude Jean, Tekna’s CEO](https://www.voxelmatters.com/tekna-appoints-claude-jean-as-new-ceo/).

The order is focused on Tekna’s premium Ti64 titanium powder, specifically in the high-value, prime particle size range.
