# Parametric 3D printed table stuns in mostly 3D printed conference room

A circular conference room featuring a table with a base produced using large-format 3D printing. The project by Fungamental sparked a genuinely technical discussion in the comments.

The table base consists of several separate parts printed using LFAM technology. Beyond desktop 3D printing, LFAM is emerging as a truly industrial technology, enabling the rapid production of life-size components that would be impossible to manufacture with consumer-grade equipment and, at best, difficult to make using traditional manufacturing processes.

Baron applied a non-planar printing strategy, meaning the print head did not move exclusively in horizontal layers but at varying angles. The result is improved structural integrity and the ability to achieve more complex geometries.

The entire design was modeled in Rhino using SubD surfaces. This tool allows designers to create organic, fluid shapes that would be difficult or impossible to achieve through traditional solid modeling. The final result is visible in the photos: the table base resembles tangled roots or branches, with a distinctly organic character that contrasts with the clean wooden tabletop.

The comments raised several questions, most notably how the individual parts are connected and how the structure's overall rigidity is ensured. Baron answered directly. The base components are screwed into the wooden tabletop from below and connected to one another via internal connectors. A straightforward solution that eliminates the need for gluing or welding and allows for potential disassembly.

Another question was whether the distinctive vertical elements visible in the background of the conference room were also 3D printed. The answer was brief: this story will continue.

What sets this project apart is not the use of 3D printing, but the scale and context of the application. A conference room table has to be durable, stable, and visually consistent with the rest of the interior. Baron's table base meets all of those requirements while also demonstrating shapes that no traditional woodworking or metalworking technique could replicate at a reasonable cost. That is the moment when 3D printing stops being a novelty and becomes simply the best tool for the job.
