As 9T Labs scales up and prepares for the commercial launch of its hybrid 3D printing technology (for producing structural carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite parts), the company has expanded its executive team with Fabian Pusch as chief technology officer (CTO). The commercial team also grows with Arne Büttner, sales manager for the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) region, and Andrea Borlenghi, sales manager-Italy.

“We have expanded our team and are happy that Fabian Pusch, a molding expert with a strong business background, joins our executive team as CTO,” explained Martin Eichenhofer, 9T Labs chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder. “Fabian’s experience with plastics machinery as well as computer-aided engineering will be very helpful as we work to round out our team”.

“We also have expanded our sales territory and welcome both Arne Büttner, who will be managing DACH and brings strong expertise in automated, high-performance composites manufacturing, and Andrea Borlenghi, who will manage Italy and has solid experience in 3D printing high-performance thermoplastic materials,” added Giovanni Cavolina, 9T Labs chief commercial officer and co-founder.

Fabian Pusch joined the executive team of 9T Labs as CTO in April.  Previously, he spent 6 years at Geberit AG (Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland) as head of injection molding technology. Before that, he was head of testing at plastic machinery OEM KraussMaffei’s Netstal-Maschinen AG division (Näfels, Switzerland) for almost 3 years. Earlier in his career, Pusch spent 3 years as a CATIA supporter and process engineer for the Swiss Formula 1 team Sauber Motorsport AG (Hinwil, Switzerland) as well as 3-1/2 years as a consultant and team leader at Corway GmbH (Friedrichshafen, Germany), a startup focused on virtual reality and augmented reality. He holds a graduate degree in Potential Management from the University of St. Gallen’s School of Economics, Law and Social Sciences (St. Gallen, Switzerland). Pusch also holds a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in Systems Engineering from DHBW Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (Stuttgart, Germany).

Arne Büttner also joined 9T Labs in April as sales manager for the DACH region. Before that, he spent 7 years as a sales manager at AFPT GmbH (Dörth, Germany), a leading supplier of laser-assisted tape placement and winding equipment. Büttner holds a Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (Kaiserslautern, Germany).

Andrea Borlenghi, who says he likes to solve tricky problems, is the 9T Labs sales manager-Italy, a position he has held since April. Previously, he spent 3 years in positions such as business territory manager-Italy and Eastern region and country manager-Italy at Roboze S.p.A. (Bari, Italy), which has developed a high-performance polymer additive printer technology. And from 2017-2018, Borlenghi was a junior account manager at 3devo B.V. (Utrecht, Netherlands), a polymer 3D printing auxiliary equipment provider (including desktop filament producers, part/scrap shredders, and dryers). Borlenghi holds an M.S. degree in International Management with a focus on Business Development and Entrepreneurship from the University of Utrecht (Utrecht, Netherlands).

9T Labs’ technology enables high-performance structural parts — in challenging small-to-medium size and thick sections — to be produced in carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites in production volumes ranging from 100 to 10,000 parts/year. By combining 3D printing (which offers unexcelled design freedom, part complexity, and control of fiber orientation) with compression molding in matched metal dies (providing rapid cycle times, high production rates, excellent surface finishes with low voids, plus high repeatability and reproducibility (R&R)), the hybrid production system offers the best of both additive and conventional/subtractive manufacturing.
